After a pleasant visit to Sarlat, what a pleasure it is to be able to swim in a nice pool on the way back! In our small campsite in the Dordogne, you will have this possibility. Open from April onwards, our swimming area has a large 20m pool and a paddling pool for the little ones, both heated throughout the season. Whether you want to relax on the deckchairs, have fun or do some swimming, you can enjoy it all day long!
Les Pialades offers other activities in its campsite, such as mini-golf, a bowling alley, ping-pong tables, a children’s playground, a billiard table, a games library and a library. As you can see, there is no shortage of activities to do on site for young and old. In addition, during the summer, there is entertainment for the whole family.

Culinary rendezvous at the Sarlat market
All year round, our campsite Les Pialades invites you to visit the market in Sarlat, which takes place every Wednesday and Saturday morning. The traditional open-air market of the medieval town gathers the best local products of the Périgord, which make the gastronomic reputation of the Dordogne. You will of course find the black Périgord truffle, but also strawberries, chestnuts and walnuts. You will also salivate over foie gras, duck breast, confit, and rillettes, all of which come from Périgord ducks and geese. Local cheeses will be proudly presented, including cabécou and Rocamadour (goat cheeses). Finally, you can’t miss the excellent wines of the Dordogne (Bergerac, Pécharmant…)!
The curious statue of the Three Geese
Sarlat also has many other attractions that are not to be missed. The statue of the Three Geese, which represents the gastronomic excellence of the Périgord, is one example. Its square is a favourite spot for photographers. You will also pass the statue of the Badaud in front of the doors of the old Sainte-Marie church, climb up to the Lantern of the Dead, visit the Manoir de Gison…

You cannot discover Sarlat without visiting its splendid 18th century Cathedral of Saint-Sacerdos, which is located in the centre of Sarlat, not far from the Sarlat Tourist Office.

The Lascaux caves
You have certainly heard of it. The Lascaux cave is located in the commune of Montignac, north of the town of Sarlat. It was made famous when four young men discovered it on 8 September 1940. In this “Sistine Chapel of Prehistory” are preserved paintings and engravings dating from 17,000 to 18,000 years ago. If the original can no longer be visited, you can visit the facsimile of Lascaux II or the recently opened International Centre for Cave Art, known as Lascaux IV.
Castle of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle
15 kilometres from Sarlat, the castle of Castelnaud dominates the valley on a rocky outcrop at the confluence of the Dordogne and the Céou. Its visit will plunge you into the world of the Middle Ages. It was the scene of Franco-English confrontations during the Hundred Years’ War. Its war museum has a collection of weapons and armour dating from the 15th to 17th centuries. And if you spend the summer there, you will be able to see many demonstrations.
The Gardens of Marqueyssac
9 km from Sarlat, the Marqueyssac Gardens are home to 150,000 boxwood trees on a promontory facing the castle of Castelnaud. Overlooking the Dordogne Valley, you will admire magnificent views of the village of La Roque-Gageac, the fortress of Beynac… The most visited gardens in Périgord, they are classified as a masterpiece of topiary art. Every Thursday evening in summer, the gardens are illuminated by candlelight in a romantic and musical atmosphere.
